About Me

I’m Hannah, a 2022 graduate from the University of Denver with a BA in International Studies and minors in Writing and Anthropology. This course of study was really well-rounded; many concepts from international studies connect with anthropology, and writing gives me the ability to express those ideas.

My father is an immigrant from Ethiopia, and his experiences coupled with the work he did in his life has helped lead me to my interest in these fields.

I grew up all over the place — California, Colorado, Texas, even Germany — but I now have roots in Texas and Colorado. I have a huge passion for travel! I studied abroad in London, and was able to deepen my love of art, history, and really old buildings. I would love to spend more time abroad in the future.

I am beginning USC's Master of Public Diplomacy program in Fall 2023, a stepping stone to working in global development policy and communications. I've written a number of articles for The Borgen Project, a nonprofit that uses foreign policy to fight poverty. Check them out here: https://borgenproject.org/

I enjoy using writing as a form of activism. I’ve had exposure to different writing styles and genres, but the majority of my work focuses on those policies and changes I’d like to see, and make, in global development. This portfolio mostly showcases how I use writing to make the world a better place.

While my writing portfolio's main purpose is to showcase the minor, feel free to check out other work I've done outside the minor.
